I went with @delanie_fontaine to pick out the gorgeous stones for our upcoming Arm Candy + Oils class and I was really feeling like I needed a stone for myself. I wanted something that would help keep that inner spark lit, to help me feel energized and balanced. To help revive a part of me that has been dormant for awhile

I spent some time just running my hand over different stones, seeing how they felt and then I felt a big jolt of energy when I came to this beauty - Poppy Jasper
I love Jasper, but had never heard or seen Poppy Jasper before. I knew when I held this stone I felt calm and energized, like my body was starting to rev up. Sure enough, when @delanie_fontaine shared with me this is the Passion Reviver, I knew this was the ally I wanted to invite into my life

I also knew there was more wisdom to this stone, something else calling me, and when I opened up to what that might be, I learned this is also the stone of animal communication
That’s exactly the energy that’s been awakening within, the passion being revived, the quiet ember burning since my birth, that has wanted space in my life, to fuel my soul. I have recently had some pretty big realizations about the ways I want to share my passion and knowledge of animals with others and this stone is helping anchor that knowing
I love having allies that I can call on in super tangible and practical ways - like holding a stone in my hand. The weight and energy help me pause in my daily life and intentionally take a moment to connect with the dream, the future, the things that are calling. It’s so easy to lose them in the hustle bustle of life, and holding a stone for a moment, or seeing it out of the corner of my eye, calls me to remembrance. Just like that

I met Rich, or Richard, yesterday at around noon. Having just left a meeting with a producer and director for a feature script that I’m working on, I’ll admit I was distracted. I sat in my car, not moving for what seemed like hours, debating on how to tell stories or if I was going to be even good enough still to keep at it, when Rich started yelling at me. Not angry or anything of the sort, but instead trying to get me to park in a rundown lot. He thought I needed a spot, considering I was parked in a loading zone for just these brief moments. When I found one on the street not far away, Richard came up and talked to me. ‘I was just looking to help you out, my man.’ That was the first thing he said to me. I knew that he was homeless, I knew that he was going to ask for money, which he did, but I didn’t expect his hospitality right off the bat. For the following thirty minutes, Richard and I walked up and down the street I had parked on. Rich was born in 1960 in Alabama. I told him I was born in Nashville and he smiled. ‘Southern hospitality, my man, it’s baked in our blood. That’s why you talkin’ to me, and that’s why I’m talkin’ to you. Trying to help the damn people out here.’ He told me about his wife, Julia (“pronounced Yoo-lia, because she’s some Russian bitch” he remarked), how he had been to prison and how he used to chase away prostitutes from his friend’s houses. He pointed to various places and gave me the historical tapestry of his street and it felt more alive than it appeared. He kept telling me that despite his worldly travels, he would keep coming back to this street for the rest of his days. When I asked him why, he said that the street had his history written in it. Richard wrapped his arm around me and we half-walked/half-danced along the various cracks in the cement, searching for something. Along the way, I told him I had to leave, but he told me that if I ever needed anything, I could always come find him on this street. He would give it to me and my loved ones, the same love we shared together. Then he stopped and smiled, for he had found what he was searching for.

And sure enough, I realized I was standing on Richard’s street.
